Blah.

It snowed.
And snowed and snowed and snowed and SNOWED! All day long! Blast this stinkin weather.

Also, I just noticed that possibly 1+1 really does equal 3! Sing a song of sixpence (random, but hey, sixpence... money.) And then Over it... if you've ever seen 'What happens in Vegas' you know where to go when you're getting 'over it'... so then you Wake up in Vegas! It makes sense!

Yes, I am quite bored actually.

Anywho... I felt sickly achey madness yesterday morning so I slept in and took lots of Tylenol and in the afternoon when I felt better I still stayed away from school. Instead I went to work. Lovely isn't it?

Strangeness in the night...

So last night I fell asleep with the weirdest combination of songs going through my head: 'Sing a Song of Sixpence' from Mads, and 'Over it' by Katherine McPhee. This morning I woke up with 'Waking up in Vegas' by Katy Perry. Who knew 1+1=3? :p

Also this morning when I woke up(via wake up call by Megan and Riley) I was presented with three red roses and a note with an Aesop's Fable. I'm assuming it's from the boy in my french class that I sluffed with yesterday. (Along with another guy and another girl. We watched 'Winnie the Pooh' :p It was rather quite grand. And then I was trying to figure out a nice way, and convincing excuse to have to go home when his little sister decided to teach me how to play 'Giant tac-toe'. It's interesting how when you play games with five year olds, all the rules change and it suddenly becomes completely impossible to win. :p) The Fable note thing was something along the lines of 'he who tries to please everyone, pleases no one'. Which he told me yesterday too. I can't decide if there's a hidden message or hint in there though. Like, "Please just forget everyone else and please me by asking me to sweethearts" or something like that. Cause I could totally picture him saying that. Oh well. More roses to add to the collection I guess.

So much for sleeping in forever this morning. :( Haha

I found this cool picture...

I was trying to find the stupid school websites but iron.com is not school websites... it's something to do with iron I assume. And keys... However, the silver lining of taking five minutes to find powerschool was that I saw that cool key picture.
Which reminds me:
I found my keys!!! You didn't even know I lost them, but I did. And now they have found me. Via cleaning room.
... which still isn't done. Yes, I'm stalling by blogging. You don't mind- I promise.

Also, in the good news department I just got my letter (and cool/random/why did I need this, certificate) of acceptance to Snow College. AAAND... not only am I accepted, but I have a (conditional) 2 year, full tuition waiver scholarship thingy. Basically, they pay my tuition for two years if I have at least 15 credit hours, and I maintain a 3.5 GPA. Sweet huh? Guess I'd better get used to studying pretty quick.

For piano lessons I agreed to go to their house for a while, since their mom is doing some training thing for her job and it'd be close to impossible to get them across town to my house.
At first I was totally cool with the idea, no big deal right? But I showed up in the middle of dinner, Gracie was literally dragged away from her almost finished food and got bored of lessons REALLY fast. Haha. And her little brother was either curious or just super unhappy to have someone giving his sister all the attention during dinner.
I just have to keep reminding myself: 'Snow Gardens apartments... Snow Gardens apartments. A laundry room in my apartment. No gross-y laundromats. Snow Gardens Shan, you can do it!'

Unfortunately, my self motivational speeches don't really kick in until the panic of not being able to afford even ramen noodles for future sustenance comes around.

Thank heavens...

for grandparents, and National Treasure music and Pirates of the Caribean music and yoohoo chocolate milk.

Today was not Tuesday. It was, in fact, Monday. And it most definitely felt like one. First hour we had a test that was supposed to be on Thursday. And then in english everyone freaked out over 1984. (which is justified, but goodness people. You read it anyway, that's the end of the awkward session, and we have LOTS of classwork to do so let's just move on, shall we?) A Capella was... typical. :p Adult roles had a surprise test. Loverly. Just loverly.

Also P.S, sister Erin, that quote really was from whoever it says it's from. Not me. :p It's rather ironic though that the name is Barrie huh.

built tough... let's hope.

So I'm blogging via my lucky duck of a friend's new laptop. I want one. (hint hint parents)

Today I ran away. And it was most lovely. But it seems like everything just crashes when night time comes... maybe I'm still scared of the dark or something. :P

I just wanted to remind myself mostly, that my word of the year is courage... that's supposed to be motivational isn't it? It's supposed to give you super powers and suddenly make you this woman of steel emotions and bravery... Not so my friends, not so.

Crying, is NOT for woosies. Just so you know.

This courage stuff stinks a little bit.

phew... it's finally friday! :D

So I splurged. And I got my nails done. I blamed it on making mads…. Which was mostly my motive but I basically kinda just like being pampered and I just got done with the quarter final tests and last minute surprise projects and lined things up that needed to be lined up and I’ve been assertive these days and pretty courageous. Or so I like to think. And so I did my nails to pat myself on the back. :p

Happy weekend everyone!

(Oh! P.S I almost forgot. Angie, this is a note for you. : ) I just wanted to tell you that I love all your comments you post. Haha, I actually really look forward to reading comments and you are my most faithful commenter. You make my day! :p So: Thank you. Haha)

Funny/slightly sad story...

I have to preface:
Today stunk. This week stunk. The end of the quarter stinks, and so does stress.
Today all the stinky forces seemed to combine against me and I just had to have myself a little cry. You know what I mean, those times where no matter how hard you try to keep the random eye leakage from spewing it comes rather forcefully anyway. So I just went to the bathroom for some privacy while I had a semi-pathetic cry.
I'm also getting sick. So when I coughed a couple times, and I was apparently still sniffling- a girl asked if I was ok. That was alright, I mean sympathies are appreciated. But then I heard her whisper to her friend that she thought I was throwing up. And from the little bits of conversation I heard as they walked out, I think they thought I'm suffering from bulemia or something. Which made me giggle a little bit.

And then I went to choir.

Courage.

Angie, I really liked that idea from your last post, so if I was in fact going to do that my word of the year would be courage. Just so you all know. :) It's part of the young men/young women theme this year (Joshua 1:9 "Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.")

Courage is an interesting thing. Once upon a time I used to believe it meant not being afraid of anything. Which- I knew- I'll never be. :p Now, I think courage is more just being brave and doing what's right even if it's scary. I found a definition that explained my idea of courage perfectly:

"Courage is the ability to confront fear, pain, risk/danger, uncertainty, or intimidation. 'Physical courage' is courage in the face of physical pain, hardship, or threat of death, while 'moral courage' is the ability to act rightly in the face of popular opposition, shame, scandal, or discouragement. Courage is the mental and moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty."

This year I think I need to use courage where my well being is concerned. For me, standing up to people and not being a pushover or totally passive is scary. But I've discovered it's not exactly healthy to be used as a door mat either. Sometimes courage is just something that helps you keep yourself safe. Sometimes you have to forget how you feel, and remember what you deserve.

Good afternoon ladies and gents...

So the government project I was stressing over has been presented and all is well- we won the vote unanimously. Neiner. :p

I decided to just hit the counseling office after school today and beat the first week of the new quarter schedual change rush, so I could switch into mads. Turns out you have to have principle permission to change into a full year class now, and so Mr. Counselor said to tell Mr. Choir teacher to go talk to Mr. Principal. So I did. Mr. Choir wasn't very happy with me, which I can understand because goodness knows being a teacher with all the pet peeves and stress/anxiety levels that he has, life must be pretty bumpy over the few weeks preceeding and following the change of the quarter. Anywho, I just felt a wee bit jaded. A- he acted like, 'oh fine, since I'm desperate and you at least know rhythem even though you totally butched the audition, I suppose that out of the goodness of my heart we'll take you. Yes, you're in. You can thank me later.' 2- He acted put off that mads was already starting songs and I won't have the head start that they do, and C- that Mr. Principal has to OK schedual changes. (Geeze, you don't have to sound so enthusiastic to have an extra soprano Mr. Choir teacher, sir. Remember, sir, that it was YOU who asked ME to audition, and not the other way around. Sheesh.)

And now, I'm bored to death already for some reason unknown to mankind. So I'm doing what any average teenager would do: I'm procrastinating homework and all productive work and taking silly quizzes on facebook and blogging.

Facebook says I'm bipolar, and that my native american name is Rain Pebble. Just in case you were wondering. :p

Peace out.

oops

Just in case you were wondering, that random non-post from a day or two-ish ago (don't ask me, honestly I still think tomorrow's friday. Long week.) that was titled 'cruel and unusual' was not entirely a mistake.
The cruel stands for the idea teachers have these days of giving us randomly large-ish projects on a thursday and make it due monday. 'Have a great weekend!' (RIGHT!)
The unusual stands for my adult roles project topic.

Also cruel AND unusual stand for the fact that I have to take a stupid freshmen pe class. But we've been over that one.
Many Times.

Anywho, now that the small matter of confusion is now solved- I bid you adieu :)

Just in case you wanted to know...

A) I stayed up late finishing a project of which I thought was due on Tuesday, only to learn it wasn't due until Thursday. (I recieved minor extra credit. :p)

B) I finally presented my stupid bill in government that some of you may recall me mentioning in a post from forever ago. It went ok. But Mr. Opinionated to the extreme stared me down while pointing out every tiny thing he disliked about it. And my friends even spoke against my bill in the discussion. :p Oh well, I still get an A and that's pretty much all I care about at this point. And it's over. The end, amen, 10-4.... (I can breathe again!)

and as for C) (I need a drum roll please :D )

(Drum roll sound effect)
I auditioned for mads yesterday- that's not the good part yet. In fact I was pretty sure I bombed it completely- and today I talked to the choir teacher, and he said...........

I MADE IT!!!!!!!!!!! (You can send money, and flowers and gift cards if you insist. :p Haha, ok so not really. But I was excited. And caught off guard.)
I have to admit, I'm intimidated and I don't think I'm good enough at all- Mr. Choir teacher was just desperate for another soprano or something.

... Nevertheless, I made it. :) Just so you know.

Also, the quarter is about to end, which is kinda freaking me out. Partially because that means I'm on the downhill slide of my senior year, and real life sounds scarier than the social experiment formally known as High School- and partially because I have to take a quarter of the Freshmen PE Skills class. Two problems. First of all, it's a PE class. I'll run, and I'll lift weights and stretch and work out and be all physical education pro and stuff... just not in front of a class. Problem numero deux (yes, three languages. I call it 'spanglifrench'.) is that it's a FRESHMEN class. Just in case you didn't catch on, that means I'm going to be a senior.... (ooh big bad Shannon) in a class with freshmen. (ohh... :/ bigger badder freshmen)Ahh, the joys of jumping through hoops to graduate. So not fair.

Heh heh,,, so I'm blogging twice in one day, what's it to you? :p

Oh my holy socks!!! I just realized that on the right... yep, right over there... down a little. ... Little more... RIGHT THERE! Where you see the 'blog archive'? It now says 2010. And JANUARY. And stuff. Weird. Very very weird.

Also, Erin my sister dear, I am completely unashamed of reading Levin Thumps. I embrace the nerdiness of it! :p Just so you know.

ALSO. We accidentally tipped over the Christmas tree. I think some of us felt bad and flustered and embarrassed, but me- I say, "Hey! We don't have to un-decorate anymore!"
(In those very words.)

Au Revoir.

:p

After the Christmas break...

they send you back to school.

And it's possibly the worst form of academic punishment available to mankind. I think it's a conspiracy. "Here, go away for a few weeks... neglect your studies and have fun eating holiday food and celebrating. But once you come back, you'd better not be tired or fall asleep in my class or talk to friends you haven't seen since 'last year' or any of that fun madness. School, people! We're at school!"

Ha. Funny isn't it? Well... when the teachers get reprimanded for so many failing students (don't teachers have a quota of A students they have to fill to be a licensed teacher? They should. :p) then the joke's on them. Heh. Heh. Heh!

Anyway, if you can't tell coming back to school today was a bit tough. In Nutrition we did a diet analysis- just what I needed after a holiday (rolls eyes). English we discussed "Of Mice and Men". Which I suppose I appreciate, because tragedies are good stories too, but it made me cry and I think the ending stunk. Especially the last sentence. (Haha, now all of you are going to either google that or read the book. My work here is finished. :p) And then A Capella was chaotic, as usual, but he actually expected all ninety-something students to be silent and consentrated on the music aptitude listening test thingy for almost half an hour straight. That was intense. Truly, it was all we could do to keep from dozing off. Adult Roles was ok. That class is one of the most entertaining. Maybe from the people, maybe from the open-ness of everything and maybe just 'cause 90% of the topics covered are really awkward and people's reactions are either annoying or entertaining. Spencer definitely adds to the value of the second. :p

And now I'm home, and the post is now officially finished- consider yourselves updated. I have to go do homework.

Eventually. :p
