Updates, catch-ups, and walks on the beach.

So. I've neglected the blogging thing for all of a few days and it feels weird. I think that's probably a sign of addiction. (Maybe this is acceptance, and I'm making progress in the steps to recovery now. :p)

Anyway. Remember how I wasn't looking forward to the blind date?
It actually turned out pretty fun, even if it was kind of weird that it was a guy that I know and had a class with once upon a time. HUGE thanks to Lacie and Kylee for planning it, they thought of everything.
So here's the recap. I know you've been on the edge of your seat waiting to hear about my life. Most people do of course because it's such a dynamic and exciting life to be entranced with. (In case sarcasm doesn't carry well through technology and text... that was in fact dripping with it. :) Haha)
Mr. Blind date came to the door, and my mom made me hide so she could answer it and pretend like he had the wrong house. ("Is Shannon here?" "Who?" (Sounding nervous)"Shannon Heap?" "Oh... I think you have the wrong house..." That's the part where I stepped into view so the poor boy didn't die.)
There was a note with directions to our first destination. Confusing directions, nonetheless. We got lost and ended up at the SUU Gym instead of Mickey D's. (Those two probably aren't mixed up often...) When we finally got to McDonald's we asked for the 'Dannon' order (a combination of our names: "Danny and Shannon... get it? :p") the lady looked at us funny, "Aren't you supposed to go through the drive through?" We must have looked kinda panicked or something because she just giggled and gave us the note and two cups for drinks. (Already paid for. Thanks again Lacie and Kylee!)
The next note lead us to Chilles, where the guy at the pick up counter had absolutely no idea what in the world 'Dannon' had to do with anything. Finally a girl in the far corner of the kitchen heard us and brought us chips and salsa with another note. Costa Vida burritos and another note later we drove up Cedar Canyon and found a map/note at Milts.
Here's a tiny bit of back ground information for the next part. I absolutely HATE not being able to see. Once upon a time when I was little, my sisters and I would blind fold ourselves and find our way around our house for hours. Don't ask why- because I still haven't figured that part out, but we loved playing 'blind' for some reason. Then I grew up and it might terrify me a little bit to not see where I'm going and feel out of control.
Back to the story. :)
We drove up a dirt road, and found another note along with a rather snazzy leopard print blind fold.
The 'blind' part of the date was me being blind folded, and Danny leading me to a tree house. Cute idea... freaked me out! Haha. But good news. I didn't even trip! So we found the tree house, along with a blanket, marshmallows, cookies, Rollo's, a lighter and lighter fluid, and some card games. Cute huh? :D
So we ate dinner and visited, and then decided to try some s'mores.
All the wood was wet though, so that didn't go very far. Poor Danny couldn't get the fire to stay going.
So we just played card games- and not to toot my own horn but... I totally dominate at "blink". (It's sort of like 'speed' except you can lay a card down if it matches either the color, shape, or number. All this Story Tellers work has made me an excellent sorter apparently. ;p)
We bet on the last hand, and since I won I get those addictive sour patch watermelon candies. (I'm telling you, I'm hooked on those! Thanks to my roommate Sami, and our trip to Delta. :p)
Now for the best part. The drop off. (Haha not that it was a bad date, just that this part of the story is the funniest, in my opinion.)
So we pull up to my house, and my aunt is sitting in the driveway. Which I thought was hilarious, not awkward. But I'm not sure Danny had the same views. Haha. He walked me to my door anyway and gave me an awkward hug. That's when I noticed my dad was in the front room with three other men. I assumed bishop stuff. And I didn't want to interrupt, but I sort of needed to get into my house. So interrupt I did.
Haha. It was eventful. (Now that I type it all, it doesn't sound as funny as it was at the moment. Oh well. I guess you'd have to be there.)

Now.
Here is the part where I apologize for making this such a long post... But you've gotta see some of me and Tabby's boredom pictures. Yesterday we got bored so we went to vacuum her car out, and that's where all the madness started!

We like Tabby's car....
A lot! It has a sun roof!
Lacie, you'll be happy to know I finally tried the (non coffee! Just in case you readers were concerned...) vanilla bean frappucino with a shot of caramel. :) It is pretty delish!
We decided to check out the 'lake' on Lay hill that's pretty much just a glorified puddle. And therefore we had to take shadow pictures.... :p
Sadly, I couldn't smuggle Tabby in. No dogs allowed! :p
She snuck in anyway. ;)
We're rebellious, in case you can't tell. Also in case you can't tell, I have a thing with signs. Especially if you can make them into funny pictures.
Pretend I don't look like I have to use the bathroom or something awkward in this picture. Also, note the pebble. I'm not totally random. Kinda.
Then we started walking around the pond thingy, and the lighting was perfect so we had to pull some ANTM pictures of course!

If you use your imagination you can pretend you're on the beach. :p But really, it is sort of pretty at sunset. Even for a glorified pond!

This is when I was breaking into Tabby's car, via sunroof. I had to think skinny of course, and even then it was sketchy. Haha.

Then when we were driving home we found this and had to sneak some pictures.

Then we danced and rocked out to Avril Lavigne. (Which P.S took me back to middle school with 'Sk8er boi' and then Freshman and Sophomore year with the rest of the semi-emo sounding songs. haha)
It got pretty intense :p
(We also attempted to slide down her 'banister'. It doesn't work very well and then you get stuck and look like a fat koala bear while Tabby snaps your picture. And then you're stupid enough to post it on your blog. :p)

So. That's how we stay entertained in Cedar City! I wouldn't be surprised if you're all questioning our sanity now. :)

Also P.S I tried reading through and editing, but it's warm outside so I'm abandoning the effort. Sorry if I'm not grammatically correct or spellerific. :) Happy FRIDAY!!!! :D I'm goin outside!

I'm not a party pooper or anything...

I'm also not pessimistic in any way, shape or form. :p
However, you should know I'm not a huge fan of the awkward first date thing.
I don't really love the awkward shallow conversations, with endless pointless questions to keep the conversation going.
Playing games isn't my favorite either. Who made up the rules anyway? Taking turns with who contacts who first, and the being "mysterious" and editing yourself to be impressive and non-scary?
This dating crap is a lot of work. Haha.
It's also kind of fun, (Of all the rotten luck) and sadly, kind of necessary if I plan on ever abandoning my facebook relationship status of "Painfully single".
One of the ladies that works at Story Tellers with me is setting me up on a blind date.
But not just any blind date, a complicated, and VERY blind date. (Although I'm pretty sure no one's actually visually impaired...)
A- he's someone I went to school with.
B- he doesn't actually know he's going on a date with me. Or that he went to school with me. Or anything really.
C- I guess he just barely went on break with his girlfriend.
D- We're being picked up by the date setter upper girl, and another one of the ladies that works at ST. Blindfolded. And then thrown together in a "Surprise! Here's your date!" moment. :p

I think I'm a little scared.

(Bahaha... lucky for me and everyone else out there in need, looky at what I found! Oh dear. I didn't take the survey. I don't know what you're talking about. But if I did I bet they'd be pretty entertaining answers... (weird shifty eye look) Haha.)

It'll be fun though, right?

Too classic not to share...

Oh mylanta people, I found my old quote book- among a million angst-y teenage drama journals- and there are some of THE funniest memories that go along with quotes!

"EMS... Emergency Man Store!" "Permanent or temporary? To stay or to go? Braun or Brains? Small, medium or large?" -Shannon and Aubree (Oh goodness. I miss our nonsense so much sometimes! Pretty much everything at this stage had to do with guys somehow. Kind of like "mighty fine potatoes")

"So... we need to hold to the iron rod like a monkey holds to a walnut."- Dyllan Almond (Funniest kid in my seminary class my first year after moving to Cedar. If we're being honest he sort of dominates the first handful of pages with his "We don't have to worry about the second coming coming today, because it's already tomorrow in Japan!" and "You're writing little hearts. That means you're in love. I am obligated to tell your father." Oh the entertainment value of that year in seminary. :p)

"My hamster was having seizures so I threw him in the freezer." -Jacoy somebody. (Math class sophomore year. I took Algebra 1 again. With a bunch of freshmen. (Ew. The horrors of a class with younger people. :p I was so upset about it.) That class turned out to be one of my favorites. Mr. Ellison was a grand debate-er when it came to 'falling up stairs', and since I felt too cool to talk to all the freshmen there was a good amount of people watching in that class. Which is where I heard, "I am so smart! S-m-r-t!", "It smells like sunshine in here!" and "Your phone matches your personality: slow." :D)

"You get none. ... Which is zero!" (I miss when Brianne was little. She was hilarious. Just in case you wondered.)

There were also a fair share of lyric misquotes. Like Marissa's famous "I got a 'willerbadoo'", and my "Living on toast and time" (That one earned me a lifetime of ridicule from my Dad and Brother Jones.) and then the classic "You can stand under my arm foreva-eva-eva, eh!" from Maycee and Aubree. :) Good times.

Ooh, and then there's the funny/maybe-slightly-mental teacher quotes:
"The end. Over and out! Amen!"
"The bad part of being a good sport is that you have to lose to prove it!"
"I want you to act like a sponge.... absorb everything!" (That one included hand motions 'absorbing' everything. :p)
"Why does he get to be a king and I have to be a stupid peasant!!"
"Why should I teach you and make you memorize dates if you can just click twice and look it up??"
"Doughnuts?? I don't call that breakfast, I call that sabotage!!"

Ok, so maybe those aren't even that funny to you, but I laughed pretty hard reading them and remembering.
(Ok one more before I post the serious one. If you haven't seen Monk, you won't be nearly as entertained.
"There's no heart so black as the black, black heart of the phony leper!"-Monk. Ahaha. I love it.)

I also found this which I copied down from a poster on one of my classroom doors. I kind of like it still, although I will admit it is a wee bit dramatic sounding.

Ten ways to a better life:
1-People are illogical, unreasonable and self-controlled.
Love them anyway

2-If you do good, people will accuse you of ulterior motive.
Do good anyway

3-If you are successful you will win fake friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway

4-The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway

5-Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway

6-The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest ideas.
Think BIG anyway

7-People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway

8-What you spend years building could be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway

9-People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway

10-Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.

So. Now you see what I mean by 'a bit' dramatic. :p
But I do like the message. Life is tough, and people aren't perfect, but that shouldn't ever stop you from giving life your all and being your best. Never let fear hold you back from being great. :) (It's fun to feel motivated, isn't it?)

Speaking of which, if I plan on feeling motivated about being at work I should probably quit rambling and go to bed. So. :) Goodnight people!

(Thanks everyone who's given opinions on the picture dilemma so far. If you haven't yet, I'd still love to hear from you! :) I'm still torn!)

Ok, now I am being vain, sorry.

But I need your help! (Yup, even yours! :p Seriously though, I want everyone's input)

I have to pick one of these for an 8x10, and then another one for wallet sized prints.
Unknown to most, I suffer from a serious disease called "Ican'tactuallybedecisivesopleasedon'tmakememakedecisions". (Did you catch all that? :p)
Therefore, I'm asking opinions :)

A)

B)

C)

D)

E)

F)

G)

Ok, let's hear the votes. :) (Thanks for putting up with me and my egocentric post! :p)

Yo ho yo ho a Pirates life for me!

(Well, minus drinking hard beverages and pillaging villages and such. ;) )
So, long story short, I will probably never have a normal sleep schedule again, and I'm not going to feel normal or healthy for at least a week now. All the late night stuff definitely caught up to me! Haha
So, here are some pictures from the movie:
Tasha, and Shalece

Tabby, TJ, and me.
As you can tell, we're all very excited. Especially Shalece, who has an intense love for being photographed. ;)
We went to Denny's after, and I'm telling you there's gotta be some strange chemical reaction that occurs if you eat cheese fries and drink Hot chocolate (especially if it's topped with "crisco whipped cream") at three in the morning. We might have dissolved into giggling lumps of incoherency after that.

So remember the silly photoshoot we did? There are more pictures now! (But I'm vain and I didn't download all of everyone else's, so it's now officially going to look like I dominated the shoot. Which is definitely not true. Just so you know. :p)

Once again, so I don't get busted for copyrights, these are all done by Alecia Dawn Photography, her logo should be on all the pictures. :)
Kinda fun though, huh?
Now I"m going to go get ready for the day. :p

Oh where oh where has the sunshine gone?

(Disclosure, these are phone pics, so they're not very good quality. But I can't not take pictures to post. :p)

This is what it looked like out the windows at work this morning. Remember how it's mid May? Remember how it's supposed to be Summer-y? Mother Nature must have missed the memo, this is bizarre!

In other news, the twins, Bri and I went to Tropic last weekend to visit the cute Grandma and Grandpa Barton, so we did a lot of kitchen help, (Marissa did a lot of sewing), visiting, and Grandpa even took us for a four-wheeler ride to some old coal mines. I wish I would've had my camera for that, he's so cute! I love my grandparents. :) (I truly am blessed to have both sets, and that both sets of grandparents are so incredible! My family kind of rocks. :p)
Also, my grandma's trees were all blossoming, and they looked so pretty! (And you could kind of smell apricots and apples in the air. I love that!)
Oh, and we took dramatic shadow pictures on our walk to take out the trash. :p

In other, other news: I've been hanging out with Shalece, Tabby, and Natasha a lot. (I guess I'm having apartment withdrawals and so it seems more comfortable to be in an apartment with an empty fridge and pantry than at a normal, functioning home. ;) Although I am feeling guilty for neglecting my house so much.)
We've gone to Walmart way too much for our own good, but at least they've got kid rides there to entertain us, right?
We bought tickets for the midnight premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean 4, and we might be a little bit WAY excited to freeze our bums off in line Thursday night. (I have mixed emotions on going to midnight premieres, because it seems sooo pointless to wait in line for ages for a movie you could walk into if you were patient and waited a few days. On the other hand, it makes for some really fun memories! So I guess here I go again. This time I'm bringing catch phrase for entertainment!)

Also, we've all but moved into Maverik. Someone always wants a drink or ice cream or something of the gas station sort. Tabby and I discovered the toy/candy section... and we might have a knack for being ridiculous. We were 'litting our light-sabers' (refer to Sons of Babes, as in the sequel to Out of the Mouth of Babes... funny stuff!)

And now I'm reading a new book, and I want input. Who out there has read Uglies?
What did you think? (Any recommendations for a slightly more intellectual book after I finish it?) :p I've missed reading.
Speaking of which, I'm going to go get lost in my book again. (Well. Ok so first I'm going to clean my disaster of a room, but who wanted to hear about that? I rest my case. ;) )
Happy Wednesday! (Which is, in my opinion, the best day of the week!)

I've got a dilemma.

And it's a vain one, for sure.

Green? or Brown. (That 'brown' isn't actually very brown. It's kind of gross looking actually so rest assured the brown I'm debating isn't too hideous.)

Dear Karlee, (Yeah, you get your own little epistle in this one! Feel free to feel special now. ;) ) Anyway. I discovered that beyond the pictures of me and Tyler, and maybe even counting those, the majority of my pictures consist of me and you. Haha. Just thought I'd let you know.
Love, me.

I miss Sami! (And the excitement of checking our mailbox haha.)

I finally found where I hid my contact supply, and so now I can't decide if I want to keep wearing just the brown ones that make me feel like I look like my cute mom :) or if I should go with green. Because nothing makes green eyes pop like only seeing brown ones for a month. :p

Also, Saturday I had a hermit day, and you all just need to understand how nice that was!

I'm sure I'll tell you about everything that I haven't already soon enough, but I've gotta go back to being productive... so until then. :p
Peace and Blessings
