Seminary's breath of fresh air

"There is a beautiful story of a man, and a fire. This man lived on his own plot of land, with his own little farm. He spent hours working on his land, and it gave him great pleasure to make things with his own two hands. He had spent the past week completing a new hen house, and was proud of his efforts. It wasn't anything fancy- but it was his hard work. One night the man awoke with the realization that there was a fire outside his house. To his dismay, the newly built chicken coop was engulfed in flames, but with relief he noticed that all the chickens seemed to have made it out of the large door he created for them. When the fire was extinguished and the coop was beyond repair the man ventured in to survey the full extent of the damage. It was devastating. While looking over the beams he stumbled on something that appeared to be a single, dead chicken. In his frustration the man kicked the animal, muttering 'stupid bird,' but what he saw next would amaze him. When the body was kicked there was a flurry of motion. Tears brimmed in the man's eyes when he noticed a tiny cluster of badly singed, but very much alive baby chicks. The mother hen had gathered them beneath her when she realized they wouldn't make it out in time. She had saved her babies lives. ..."

3 Nephi 10:4-6 "... I have gathered you as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings..."

Alma 34:16 "And thus mercy can satisfy the demands of justice, and encircles them in the arms of safety, while he that exercises no faith unto repentance is exposed to the whole law of the demands of justice..."

Christ extends his arms of mercy unto us, he shields us from the pain and danger we find ourselves in today's world. We just have to remember to do our part of the work.
He truly is our beautiful savior, and I'm so thankful for the knowledge we have of his love. :)

Have a wonderful Tuesday :)

  2. Oh What a needed reminder that was for me this morning! I love that story and those scriptures. I think working and playing on a farm growing up and watching some of those examples makes it even more meaningful.

Thank you for your beautiful post and for how it started my day out this morning. What a sweet testimony and as long as we keep that in our hearts, we can do all that is before us, with full confidence and assurance that we are never alone.
