Don't speak! I know just what you're thinkin

FHE Mustache party!!
A week-ish ago I decided I wanted to have a mustache party because that seems like the thing to do these days... and because in this family we genuinely enjoy mustache humor.
But since it was a Family Home Evening lesson, I figured I should tie something spiritual into it...
So the lesson was on recognizing who we truly are and not disguising that. (Because mustaches are disguises.... it might be a stretch, but the Bible Dictionary is pretty void of mustache references.)
We watched this video, and listened to this song.

Clever, right?
Ok so that picture had almost nothing to do with the blog post at hand. Minus it has a fantastic mustache on it. And it's a dry humor kinda joke. Which is always good...

Anywho, I'm tired and lazy so I'm not really writing much, but here's the pictures of the evening! (P.S, I'm so lazy that I'm not even going to put the pictures in order... sorry!)
Best part of FHE!

Here's my attempt to tie something gospel related into mustache's.

Erin says she had facial reconstruction... her facial hair isn't sure where to grow in yet.

Ok, have you guys seen Night In The Museum 2? With Colonial Custard? I'm just saying...

(Not to alarm you, but I think your eyebrow is a tad askew...)

How many completos?

Oh my... haha

Double oh my! Anyone else thinking "The Strangler"? (I hope her hands are clean!)

True love! (Or Bonnie and Clyde inmate bookings...)

"Do you want to have a party at my house?"

"I know it is green. But what else is about it?"

Self proclaimed luchadors.

Creepily serious farmer and wife? Perhaps.

(What you lookin' at Jessup?)

We're very successful aimers.

Also, on Saturday we went to St Geezy, and shopped. Far more than my father and Erin and (Well. I think pretty much everyone besides the twins and I) wanted to.
(However, I now own awesome over the knee boots and the cutest white pea coat ever.)

We're Hollister sale sweater triplets!

If it hurts to tie your shoes, you're doing it right.

My friend Kassie and I went to Gold's this morning (the manager jedi mind persuaded me to sign up with my other friends, Tabby and Shay the other day. "Today's the last day that you only pay a dollar to sign up!" Bull sniffles. My friend Kassie, AND Jennifer said that's what he told them. A couple months ago. Oh well. Still a sweet deal!)
Kas and I did the 'spinning class', in which you don't actually even twirl or get dizzy or puke. (Well, maybe on the puke.)
Ride one of those bikes at the gym- ya know the ones with the morbidly uncomfortable seats? After an hour, get off and see how well you can walk up stairs! I bet I'm not the only one who trips every other step after that! The instructor was a woman with all of 2% body fat (probably) and she was nice... in a really brutal, work your bum off or else, sort of way.

This is sort of how I'm feeling about it right now.

Given, I don't actually wear pantyhose that often... it seems pretty fitting. :p
HAPPY WEEKEND!

Mighty Huntress?

I've shot a buck with a large gun,
I've smashed a buck with a new car,
And now I'm headed into a totally new realm of hunting.
...
Jobs.

Personally, I prefer the 'horrid cruelty' of beast slaughter. (For a good cause of course. Like food? Ok, so the car hunting escapade was definitely not a good cause. But also, not a heartless, blood thirsty, hunt.)
Job hunting is awful! You don't need a tag, just unemployed panic.
You don't need a gun, just nice looking clothes and a smile- that ends up being plastered insincerely on your face after a million rejections.
You're allowed to wear orange, but I doubt potential employers appreciate the blinding neon shades.

Basically...
This week has been semi fruitless.
But I did get to watch the episodes of Bones that were missing from Netflix... (Yes. I have an addiction. Someone help. Please. ... Take your time. ;) )

It has been kind of fun running errands for my mom though, and bumming institute classes from my friends. :) I've missed institute!

Also, I went on a date last night! Dallas and I doubled with Jennifer and Dallas' roommate Casey. Dinner at Pizza Factory, and a random ride (complete with animated singing from the guys) in their roommates ridiculously attractive, ridiculously expensive, ridiculously tall truck. Then Walmart to purchase treats to sneak into Footloose. I thought the movie was fun, but I wouldn't go see it again. Kinda skanky and lots of language. Plus how can you beat Kevin Bacon? (Bacon. That's all I need to say.)

Anyway... mostly I was just bored and noticed I hadn't blogged since Monday. (Mostly because I'm boring these days! I've got nothing to say. :p) So, happy Thursday, happy weekend, and happy life! :)

Ho. Ly. Garbage.

Do you ever have moments in life where all you can do is shake your head and say,
"Wow."
That's all. Just wow.

Eventually I'm counting on everything making sense... but that probably won't be until I'm eighty and reminiscing. But until then I'm really thankful for family (specifically parents that I kidnap and kick other sisters out for one on one time... and sometimes, they even let me get away with it! ;p) (Wait. I can't just specify parents... there have been some fun sister moments since I moved home too! Ok, ok. Just family in general.)

Also, times like these call for watching past seasons of "The Biggest Loser" (right after I've had ice cream, no less) and realizing that it could be worse. Jillian could be screaming in my face, and America could be watching me throw chubby fits.
(But seriously, that show makes me cry! At least whatever season we watched does. One lady grew up thinking her mom didn't love her and watching her mom shoot up on heroin until she over dosed. Another woman lost her husband, five year old daughter, and baby boy in one car accident because some idiot was driving 100+ mph. Holy cow!! How do people survive??)

Anywho. This wasn't a very positive post, I'm sorry. Promise I'll work on my Pollyanna skills again. Tomorrow. ;)

(P.S since Wal-Mart is playing Christmas music, I figured it's ok to start my wish list. I'd like this bookmark please. :) )

"Unusual weather we're having, ain't it"

Behold. Wisdom from The Wizard of Oz.

Dorothy: Now which way do we go?
Scarecrow: Pardon me, this way is a very nice way.
Dorothy: Who said that?
[Toto barks at scarecrow]
Dorothy: Don't be silly, Toto. Scarecrows don't talk.
Scarecrow: [points other way] It's pleasant down that way, too.
Dorothy: That's funny. Wasn't he pointing the other way?
Scarecrow: [points both ways] Of course, some people do go both ways.

This is pretty much how I feel about life right now. To a t.

Moving on, I have two pictures and a Sunday story.

Firstly, It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. And we haven't even killed the turkey yet.

Secondly, when you stumble upstairs to your room, and weave your way around boxes looking for contact solution and this little beauty is hanging out in your window, should you be freaked out? Or concerned about peeing your pants laughing?
Ok, now that the silly is out of the way, :) I have a story from church yesterday.
I secretly love fast and testimony meetings, despite feeling like I'm going to have a heart attack and the sweaty palm stuff before getting up. (Or while talking myself into staying down. :p)
So many people my age have such incredible testimonies, and you can feel the sincerity, and the power of their spirit. It's just really cool to see my peers in this kind of light rather than the negative connotation of college students. :)
One guy got up, and said he wanted to tell a story, because the story was his testimony.
His niece got kidney cancer when she was 3. It wasn't terminal, but they had to do chemo to be absolutely sure the tumor was gone. She was a brave little three year old, she'd always tell the nurses, "Go away. I feel fine."
A few years later, one of their family friends found out she had cancer, so her husband went to the parents of the little girl to tell them, and to ask advice. When the little girl found out, she wanted to help. "Ooh! I have something to tell her!"
"Would you like to write it down?" her dad asked.
"Yes, that would be good."
So her father sat down with a pencil and paper, "Well, what would you like to say?"
She thought for a moment, "I just have three things."
"What are the three things?"
"First," holding up her little finger, "your hair grows back. Second," up went another little finger, "it's ok to cry. And third, Jesus is always with you."

Personally, I started crying at number one. But when he told us what her third thing to tell was, I felt the spirit so strong! How typical is that of a child? They've got it down. Life's ok, and Jesus is always with us.
I know that's true, with everything inside of me. I know that Christ is our best friend, our advocate, and our example. He, and our Heavenly Father, never move away from us- they're always there with their arms out to catch us- we are the ones who choose to step forward into their arms. They are always there.

Mid life crisis' and plumber's bum.

Remember how Grandma B and I watched Fried Green Tomatoes? Well... we maybe laughed waaaayyyy too much at this commercial. I had to share.

Also, I have to share this:
"We're just going to bless the food in the pans again tonight. It'll be buffet style."
Grandpa slowly looks over, a half smile with that dimple painting his face, "Well then, you'd better bless it."
"Why, can't you reach the pans?"
Haha I love grandma's comebacks.

Also, I'm having a midlife crisis...

Except I'm not old enough for one of those, we'll go with a mid-quarter life crisis.
Better.
But don't worry, the internet has solutions...
I'm sure it'll be highly informative. Very helpful.

Anyway, I'm sure you're dying to know why I'm having a mid-quarter life crisis. (Because you're all really really absorbed in my life, right? I thought so. :p (I may need to consider an internet solution for egotism.))
So last night as I was enjoying my cinnamon tooth paste (Hot Tamales aren't enough cinnamon in my life, no judgments please.) I looked in the mirror and suddenly came to the realization that, "Oh my garbage, I'm almost 20??" (Ok. So almost translates into, what, four months and 18 days? That's still less than half birthday status.) I did a double take. I don't look 20... I certainly don't act 20! 20 seems like it should be encompassed by a job, and college classes, and an at least semi molded blob of future clay in your hands...
Hmm. Check on the job, for two more days, not check on college, and definitely not check on the future blob. It's just a regular blob in my hands that I keep staring at as if my eyes have some sort of ESP that will magically transform something from nothing.
Then I was mulling over student loans in my mind. I don't want student loans, I don't want to have debt.
.... Oh my gosh.
I'm in debt!!
I have a car! (A beautiful, beautiful blueberry of a car!)
I'm almost 20, and I'm in debt. Great. What happened to childhood? Who stole that??
Arg.
(Pirate like behavior always helps mid-quarter life crisis' you know.)
But no worries. I decided I don't look like I'm seven, after all, and I still have ten years until I'm 30. Which apparently is worse.
I still feel old.
In a very naive, ignorant, unprepared sort of way.

So, here's to crisis.

(And just because I know Erin will try it...)
;)

Fried Green Tomatoes, Camera shopping, and 3 days

Well. There you go. I think I pretty much covered everything in the title.
Someday I'll learn discretion.

Last night my grandpa took us girl's to Ruby's Inn for dinner.

The restaurant is sooo cute! Very cabin-y, with THE coolest photo of cowgirls. It's sort of silhouette-y but still has details.

I might be in love. In fact, Meg, Miss, Er and B... fetch some cow may hats, we're having a photo shoot! ... As soon as I get a camera. How many days until Christmas again? ;)
I've been browsing through some of Nikon's cameras... I might have drooled a few times. I think I should maybe read what Wikipedia has to say about nice cameras first, though, because as much as I like to think I'm intelligent in photography- I pretty much know nothing. I'm sure they've got a 'For Dummies' book on it. Good excuse to hit Barnes and Noble. ;)
I just need some of this stuff.

Ok, Fried Green Tomatoes. By raise of hand, how many have read the book, watched the movie, or partaken of the heavenly culinary masterpiece? (The third one might be an utter lie. I haven't tried it. Frankly, it sounds kind of lethal. Like arsenic.)

Last night after the Ruby's dinner, we were gathered in the living room and my grandpa had on (you guessed it) football.
Grandma, "Didn't you say you wanted to watch a movie?"
 "...Thinking about it."
"That's what I thought you said."
"Yup."
"Looks like a movie," Grandma says, eyes glued to the screen display of ESPN. Somehow, I don't think she was nearly as enthralled by it as Grandpa was. ;)
Grandpa just grins, with his twinkly blue eyes and cute dimple. "It is."
"Ya know, some people watch movies," her voice getting that teasing tone to it, easily confused with disgruntlement, "I've heard of it!"
"Yeah, and they're all R rated and..." Grandpa's voice trails off.
Grandma sniffs, "Well, I wouldn't know." Then she smiles at me. Haha these two are comedy central I'm telling you. I never ever would've known either! Grandpa's quiet, and grandma bustles in the kitchen. Until this Summer when I moved and discovered a deeper side to each of their personalities. :) It's so much fun to be around them! Especially when they go at each other like that. Grandpa is impossible to corner, no matter how much grandma teases and pipes up with her own come backs. My grandparents are seriously the kindest, most down to earth, real people with the absolute biggest hearts that I have ever met. :)
The other day grandma and I were chuckling over something grandpa said on his way out the door, and she just smiled with this cute look on her face and told me, "I can be pretty put out with him, and all he has to do is grin, and everything's ok."
I want to sit at my kitchen table with my granddaughter and tell her something like that about her grandpa someday.

Anyway. So grandpa relented, and we watched some MASH, some of the Mary Tyler Moore show, and then about five minutes on atomic bombs, and finally grandma came across a dramatic looking scene with people dressed in past dated clothing... so of course we stopped to watch! We only caught the end, but luckily it was playing back to back. We just sort of did things out of order. :p I really loved it though! Lots of strong personalities, and tough women living life. It's sort of two stories. Evelyn is married to a bum. (But not occupationally, Erin. Just generally. And largely. ;p)
She's trying her hardest to save the marriage, when she meets Mrs. Threadgoode in the nursing home after visiting her bum husband's aunt. Mrs. Threadgoode tells Evelyn about Ruth and Idgie and they're adventurous stories. I'd tell you more, but then you'd pull a Shannon in AP English and just be content with the Spark Notes version. ;) I want you to go Netflix this movie! Tonight! (Oh. In Evelyn's attempts to save the marriage she goes to group classes... and a few of them are a wee bit sketch. Parental supervision is advised. :p)

Three more days, and then I'm Cedar bound! (Cross your fingers, and say some prayers, that I find a job fast.)

Oh! Also, I have work stories. But now I can't remember them. Mostly just funny old men, and the things they say.
I do remember one of them, though. I helped a couple the other day, they thanked me and left. (Good story, huh?)
I was just getting into my children's chapter book again when they came back in. I'm thinking, "Shoot! What did I mess up on this time?" (People have been especially picky the past couple of weeks. Or else they just don't actually know what size they buy and then blame me as if I was supposed to know that the 2XL is their regular size and so how could I ever be so obtuse as to sell them just an XL?? ;p)
The man spoke first, his wife smiling behind him, "Do you have assisted living in San Francisco?"
I blink a few times... what in the world do these foreign people want with assisted living? Mass identity heist?
"Assisted living?" I ask, while he nods enthusiastically. "Um..."
"There's a girl from there. You look just like her! And she said she has a sister living near Bryce." he interrupts. Ah! A sister, not assisted. Goodness. I probably should crank up the hearing aids.
"Oh! Not that I know of." I smile, but when they look a little sheepish I add, "I get that a lot. Maybe she's my lost twin!" ... I don't think they understood that was a joke. The looks on their faces were pretty funny.  :)
So. I've got yet another look alike. Is it incredibly odd that I hear that constantly? I find it sort of strange... Oh well.
Back to camera studying.
Oh! P.S I made an apron this morning. :) Grandma should teach home ec.

It's double sided. (Thanks Captain Obvious, right?) The only problem with that is I can't decide which side I like better!
